Captain Beefheart Weekend: display of Blue Room monoprints

Throughout Bluecoat's Captain Beefheart Weekend in November 2017, and continuing for several weeks, was an archive display relating to Beefheart's first ever painting show, staged at the arts centre in 1972. It was accompanied by Beefheart-inspired art, including these monoprints, from members of Blue Room, Bluecoat’s inclusive arts programme for learning disabled artists, who meet weekly at the venue to explore the exhibitions, collaborate and create their own art work. The Weekend was organised by independent curator Kyle Percy, working with Chris McCabe, Head Librarian at the National Poetry Library, Southbank Centre, London, and Bluecoat's Artistic Director.
